Question for my research paper: Why do you think such a great percentage of fan fiction is romantic-relationship centric?

Please leave a "real name" I can credit you with :)

Hello all! I am writing my senior thesis type paper on fan fiction. I am basically stating that fan fiction is a continuation of intrensic traditional oral traditions, and that it should be studied as such.

Right now I'm working on the patterns and themes section and I would really like some thoughts and quotes from you, the readers and writers! So if you would like, please answer any of all of the following questions. Please leave the name you'd like to be cited with at the bottom of your response. Thanks! ^_^

1) Recontextualization: one-shots, drabbles, and vignettes. What do you think the significance and beauty of these short, once piece stories is? Do you read or write a lot of missing scenes or use one-shots to put a different spin on an already-established scene?

I find I like to create my own characters to put into the fiction. Sometimes I think it's fun use what had been created and put a new spin on it.

What do I write? At the moment I've got one on FanFiction.net for Star Blazers. I like Star Wars and somewhere around my home, I've got a fan fiction written after seeing it for the first time. I do a lot of anime but nothing on the net yet.

I tend to read more than write so I guess I really need to see what else I like.

I'm 45, at home mom who is homeschooling, and well, everything else changes without me knowing it.

I’m a 28 year old, married, African-American female from NJ. (Currently I’m in FL but I’m going back to NJ.) I’m a lawyer by day. I write alone and I write primarily because it’s something I’ve always loved to do. I mostly write for me but I do love to share. One sentence to describe me would be: I’m cute, funny, smart, opinionated, shy, hardworking, loyal, trustworthy, modest and just an all around blast to be around. Here's my journal.
